Travel and Day Trips from Benidorm

The area around Benidorm is full of little villages and towns which retain their uniquely Mediterranean flavour, both on the coast and inland.

Villages such as Finestrat, which with its unusual terrain takes us from its beaches at sea level up to over a thousand metres with its impressive Puig Campana in the space of less than 10 km. Combining beach and mountain this location, which is both modern and traditional in turn, boasts some exceptional restaurants serving local cuisine with incredible views of the bay.

A few kilometres from the town, Guadalest perches over the valley on its rocky promontory surrounded by peaks in an exclusive location forming a medieval enclave impressive in its unusual structure with its imposing silhouette.

Along the coast, a visit to Altea is a must. From Mascarat point set in a bay Altea nestles in an inlet between the sea and the mountains. With the blue and white dome of its Parish church the village extends over a rocky promontory which ends in the Mediterranean. Beautiful little coves dot the coastline with the same pristine white charm as the village itself.

Finally, Villajoyosa (or Vila Joiosa as it is known in Valencian language) stands out as particularly special and anyone who visits will long to return. Its typical Mediterranean light, and the layout of the old town, with tiny streets reminiscent of bygone days, and the little houses on the port painted in vibrant colours, in typical Mediterranean style are a tourist´s delight. Don´t miss a visit to the fish market and try the amazing local seafood.
